Rick Tivers is a leading therapist in the Chicago area who is highly specialized in group, individual, family, and couples therapy. He has practiced psychotherapy for over 35 years and has taught at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology for eight years as adjunct faculty.
He focuses on relationships, personality disorders, group and family treatment, and is highly skilled at helping people to honor their defenses and work through their resistances. He has been leading therapy groups for three decades with the aim of allowing everyone to be “seen and understood”. Often the most misunderstood of clients have reported being seen and understood often for the first time in their lives by Rick Tivers.
His highly interactive style focuses in treating emotional age, which assists clients through emotional growth into maturity. He also works to produce long term realistic and authentic relationships. Rick Tivers has been known as a therapist’s therapist, as approximately 30% of his clients are also in the helping professions. He has achieved this due to his strong diagnostic skills and warm and engaging therapeutic style.
In his free time, Rick enjoys spending time with his three kids. He enjoys traveling, spending time on his rooftop deck, and playing softball.
